Star Information Systems

Star Information Systems (STAR) has been a trusted partner to clients in the global maritime and offshore sectors since 1997, helping vessel operators control, maintain and optimize their physical and technical assets across business units and geographical locations. With STAR’s fully integrated Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, operators are able to optimize their maintenance processes, reduce downtime and operational costs, and enhance asset performance and crew safety, all while complying with the most stringent regulatory frameworks.

STAR was founded in 1997 as an early mover in Enterprise Asset Management-systems for the maritime and offshore industries. The company was established by a team with a strong track record in maritime IT, including the development of the SFI Group System and the “TSAR” and “RAST” maintenance systems. Headquartered in Norway, STAR today operates through 12 global offices with approximately 200 employees. With the launch of its cloud-native platform, the company is well positioned to benefit from the industry’s structural shift from legacy on-premise solutions to integrated, web-based asset and data management systems.

Following the acquisitions of Premas in 2024, Arribatec Marine in 2025, and Sharecat in 2025, STAR has evolved from a pure-play maintenance software provider and consultancy into a broader data asset management platform. The group now offers an integrated software and data ecosystem serving both small and large operators of complex maritime and offshore assets.

Longship became the majority owner in 2024. In partnership with Longship, nearly a quarter of the company’s employees and existing shareholders have reinvested.
